The
bible says that the weapons of our warfare and mighty in God for the pulling
down or strongholds, vain imaginations and arguments, (2 Cor 10:3-5). We are in
a spiritual battle with the devil for our salvation and the salvation of all
who don't know Jesus. This makes it important to understand our warfare and our
weapons. All Christians understand that our warfare is with the devil, sin, the
world and our carnal nature. However, we seldom if ever truly use our weapons.
So my question to you is what are our weapons, what makes them mighty and how
do we use them? Now if I asked most of you guys what our weapons are you would
say prayer, the name of Jesus or something along those lines. You would be 100%
correct however there is allot more to it than that. I believe that through the
study of Scripture there are four types of weapons with multiple uses. Here is
something for inspirational study that you might want to look into.
As
I see it we have four types of weapons at our disposal. They are an expression
and manifestation of our cooperation with God. In everything we do.
Ephesians 6:17, "The sword of the spirit
is the word (rhema) of God."
Revelation 12:11, "And they overcame by the
blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they
did not love their lives unto death."
1) Our Words
"The word of our Testimony," The words of our
testimony, are the words that we speak. The bible tells us to live the life of
a sacrifice of praise. Our life of praise is described in scripture like
incense which when ignited by the Holy Ghost then becomes a sweet smell to the
nostrils of God, which in turn inspires God releasing His power. Incense is a
natural item that when it is combined with a more powerful substance like fire
(a symbol of the holy spirit) it ignites and burns releasing a sweet aroma. God
uses the symbol of incense to express to us what our prayers and praise do in
the supernatural. Isaiah 42:12-17 is a picture of how our worship stirs God to
answer. The Hebrew words in this text paint the picture as if a lion is
slumbering in His den and our praise awakens him to release a roar. The Roar of
the Lord is a powerful and fearful thing if you are not on His team. If you are
on His team it is reassuring and joyful to hear Him roar at His and our
enemies.
-
The weapon of our words is
manifest in two ways, prayer and praise:
·
Prayer/Intercession -
The sweet incense of the prayers of the saints. The bible says that when we
pray according to His will we will have whatever we ask. How can we know are
prayers are answered? If we pray according to His will we know that He hears
us. God reveals his will to us in two ways through scripture and by the
revelation of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is given to help us in our
weakness and will help us pray when we do not know how to pray, (Romans 8:26).
We have been given power in the name of Jesus to bind the strongman over lives
and territories along with the power to loose Gods power and anointing to
overwhelm and overpower the strongmen in any given situation.
·
Praise/Worship -
"Let the lifting of our hands be as incense, as an evening
sacrifice." Praise and Worship is a powerful form of prayer, (Psalms
72:20). Its how we get from the outer courts (our flesh) into the holy of
holies (His presence), (Psalms 100:2,4). When you pray in Gods will you know
that He hears you. Then you can thank Him because you know He is faithful and
will answer. When we worship God for who He is He becomes who we need Him to
be. He is yahweh which translates I am that I am or I am who you need me to be.
For example He is Yahweh Rapha our healer, Yahweh Shalom our peace or Yahweh
Yireh our provider. So when you praise Him with all of your hear you find out
that He is the answer that you need.
2) Jesus Words
Our second weapon,
Ephesians 6:17 says that the 'Sword of the Spirit' is the 'Word of God.' The
word in the Greek used for the word is Rhema. Rhema is the spoken or prophetic
word. We wage war with the devil with the prophetic words that God has spoken in
scripture and personally over our lives. "For the word of God is LIVING
and POWERFUL and SHARPER than any TWO-EDGED SWORD, PIERCING even to the
DIVISION of the SOUL and SPIRIT, and JOINTS and MARROW, and is a DISTINGUISHER
of the THOUGHTS and INTENTS or the HEART," Hebrews 4:12. The word of God
should come with a label "Handle with care." When Abraham and Isaac
were going up the mountain to sacrifice Isaac, Abraham carried the Knife and
the Fire and Isaac carried the Wood. You would think that the wood is harder to
carry however it takes more skill to carry a knife properly. Before they went
up the mountain Abraham had to circumcise his foreskin, which is a painful
experience. If the knife has cut you, you know how it feels and are more likely
to be careful in how you apply the use of the knife. The word of God is Two
Edged it can cut and pierce our hearts and it is intended for use in our
spiritual swordplay to fight the devil. The application of the sword on the
Christians life is to prune us so that we bear much fruit, (John 15:1-8). The
purpose of the sword for the enemy is to cut off the lies, the deceptions that
we have bought into and believed along with misconceptions, our mindsets
contrary to the word of God that we have accepted as truth, (2 Cor 10:3-5). Our
battle is a spiritual battle against strongholds in the mind, those "vain
imaginations" and "thoughts that exalt themselves over the knowledge
of Christ." We win this battle by praying according to the word of God,
using our weapons, allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us and using the knife to
purge us of impure attitudes and actions.
3) Our Blood
Jesus said true friends are willing to lay their lives down
for each other, (John 15:13). We are to live the crucified, sacrificial life.
Love is a powerful weapon, probably the most powerful and most neglected weapon
in our arsenal. Love conquers or triumphs over all things. Kindness turns away
rage. Being nice to someone when they are yelling, screaming and cussing at you
is impossible to do on you own. It is only possible through walking in the
spirit and allowing the fruit of the spirit manifesting in your life,
(Galatians 5:22). We are admonished by Jesus to love those who hate us and pray
for those who use and abuse us. This is a hard principle but a powerful weapon
in our warfare. We are to love God with our life and serve others as Christ
served us. Are you willing to lay your life down for the gospel or those whom
you love? I know I am! By life of by death I shall serve Him and make Him known.
It’s a harsh reality to deal with even scary but would you stand up for Christ
even when the world wants you dead? We must live our lives as living praise
sacrifices unto God. We are to love God with our whole being and love everybody
else as we love ourselves. The bible tells us to live our lives as a living
sacrifice we must embrace the death that was paid for us in Christ body and the
life that was bought in the hereafter so that we can live in the midst of
trials in the present
4) Jesus Blood
Finally the most powerful weapon in our arsenal is Jesus
Blood. Every weapon that we have is made possible by His blood. We overcome by
the Blood. The Blood is the seal of the new covenant and the deed to my Fathers
house. Jesus died and wrote us in His will and signed it in His blood. We have
forgiveness, power and authority over the works of the devil through the blood.
We are blood bought, grafted into the vine through the blood. We are blood
washed, though are sins are as scarlet they will be white as wool through the forgiveness
paid for by His sacrifice. We have power through the blood because Jesus went
down into the grave and took the keys to death, hell and the grave from the
devil through the shedding of His blood. Our names are know written in the
lambs book of life because of His blood. When we plead the blood of Jesus and
use it as an offensive weapon we remind the devil of his fate already sealed
and our victory already won.
We
must thank God for counting us worthy to be a part of a Generation that God
wants to use to bring revival to this nation and the world. God is upping the
par and calling to higher level and deeper walk with him.
